Glen Callum Associates host the MMMA Council Meeting
The sun was shining, the tea and biscuits were plated and the Glen Callum team were ready and waiting. Glen, Kerrie and the Glen Callum team welcomed members of The Metalforming Machinery Makers’ Association (MMMA) to the Red House Glass Cone in Stourbridge, where the Glen Callum Associates’ offices are based, for the associations latest council meeting.
The MMMA is a UK Association dedicated to the sheet metalforming industry and their aim is to promote the interests of companies involved in the manufacture and sale of metalforming machinery and ancillary products. The support the MMMA gives to members ensures they can thrive in today’s global marketplace.
Glen Callum Associates partnered with the MMMA earlier this year, to support the group and its members in developing their recruitment strategies, catering for today’s competitive and changing employment market. Utilising GCA’s 20 years of automotive, engineering and technical recruitment expertise, GCA has already assisted a number of members in recruiting the very best commercial and technical staff for their businesses.
During the meeting MMMA members discussed upcoming events including MACH 2020, Bruderer’s Adrian Haller retained his Chairmanship, and Philip Leath-Dawson of Schuler UK was elected as Vice President. The council meeting is an ideal platform for members to share knowledge and discuss the industries current and future challenges. The key takeaway was that UK Manufacturing is booming; regardless of Brexit, newspaper headlines and the current skills shortages throughout the industry.
Following lunch, Business Psychologist Andrew Sidebottom gave a well received presentation on psychometric testing and demonstrated its uses in aiding the recruitment and selection process.
The final item on the day’s agenda was a guided tour of the Red House Glass Cone learning about its heritage and place in industrial history. The members of the MMMA were then treated to a glass blowing demonstration where they could see first-hand this traditional method of glass making.
The home of the Glen Callum Associates recruitment team served the MMMA well and the day was considered a success. The team enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with members and the leftover lunch treats also went down very well!
