The REC is the recruitment industry’s recognised body which supports its members in achieving and maintaining the highest standards of recruitment practice, through legal advice, training and guidance.
Each month they select a number of corporate members to be visited by an Assessment Officer and assessed against key areas of industry regulations and REC standards and this month it was our turn!
We were inspected on the following criteria:
- Contracts and Terms of Business
- Work seekers files
- Handling of CV’s and Personal data
- Data Protection Registration
- Client Files
- Induction and training of staff
- Complaints procedure
- Health and Safety
- Equal Opportunities
The inspection scheme is a key part of the REC strategy to raise standards within the industry and promote its members as professional recruiters. They also carry out these inspections to ensure that recruitment businesses are compliant and follow relevant legal requirements.
We are obviously delighted that we passed with flying colours and it’s always good to be recognised for a job well done! Unfortunately there are agencies out there that give the recruitment industry a bad name and hopefully by following REC standards we can hold our heads up and say we aren’t one of them!
