Recruitment Agency Expo 2023 – Overview

4th & 5th October 2023

Can’t believe it’s been almost three weeks since the GCA team escaped the office and headed to the NEC, Birmingham for the Recruitment Agency Expo 2023.

The train strike on the first day threatened to dampen our experience, but what recruiter gives up at the first hurdle?

How lucky were we to have the UK’s largest recruitment event being held right on our doorstep? Attracting 2,500 recruitment leaders!

The GCA team spent two days networking, attending seminars, viewing new tech and soaking up the amazing atmosphere, generated by the sheer number of exhibitors and attendees.

Every day is a school day!

Here at Glen Callum Associates we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary this month, however, the team are still as eager as ever to learn and stay up to date with the latest trends and news from the world of recruitment.  Recruitment is ever changing; trade shows and exhibitions are the perfect opportunity to hear about the latest innovations entering the market and to stay abreast of industry news and advice.  Both clients and candidates benefit from GCA keeping their finger on the pulse.

Informative seminars were held throughout the two-day event, with over 35 of the UK’s recruitment experts sharing their knowledge and expertise.  Offering in excess of 19 hours of CPD accredited sessions / seminars.  The seminars were well attended and well received by all.

In addition to the seminars, over 70 industry suppliers showcased their latest technologies and innovations with fellow professionals.

Our thoughts…

Kerrie Richards,  GCA Director, said, “Gosh what a great Event!  Recruitment Expo 23 was jam packed full of recruitment insights.  I gathered stats on where the landscape is going with regards to candidate availability, looked in on demos on new technologies to make our job quicker and easier, learnt all about the latest AI in recruitment and what we should use to aid us the recruiter and what’s best left to human intervention, and all in all I found out what’s working for best recruitment practice and what’s not!  We all appreciate that recruitment is fiercely competitive and to be the best at recruiting you also have to be; great at marketing your business, great at marketing your clients business and great at marketing your jobs.  So I particularly enjoyed the seminars on marketing through linkedin, the use of hashtags, what to post when and how to get your listings on the top!  Did you know that 40% of job seekers use voice search?  Neither did I, so that’s one for our tech team to embrace!”

Kayleigh Bradley, Senior Recruitment Consultant, added “I had a very insightful day at this year’s Recruitment Expo in Birmingham.  I crammed my day full of as many seminars as possible and listened to some fantastic speakers from the world of recruitment, there was a real buzz about the show, and it is great to see the passion and enthusiasm for our industry come through.  I came away with lots of information, hints and tips which I have already started to put into practice.  I genuinely believe that the world of recruitment is ever changing and therefore to be a successful recruiter, you need to keep learning and evolving to keep up the pace.”

GCA’s newest team member, Office Administrator – Karen Bradley also attended the Expo.  Karen explained, “It has been many years since I attended an exhibition at the NEC.  Although the roles were reversed this time around – it was great to visit the stands rather than previously manning them.  As I’m new to the world of recruitment, this was my first opportunity to attend an industry specific event and see with my own eyes what recruitment is all about.  It was great to see how proactive the recruitment industry is.  Everyone collectively wanting to drive the sector forward.  The two days proved a massive learning curve for me.  There were lots to take away, learn from and ultimately put into practice.  I loved the buzz of the expo and look forward to attending more events in the future.”

The expo proved a fabulous opportunity to network, hear the latest industry news and learn from thought leaders from the recruitment sector.

The whole GCA team look forward to attending again next year.  The date is already in the diary – 9th & 10th October 2024.

See you there.

A great service. You were very easy to chat with and very informative about the position available. You submitted my CV and kept me in the loop through out the process. Even calling me Friday after normal working hours to inform me I had been accepted for the job. Highly recommend service.
