Automotive recruitment specialist, Glen Callum Associates (GCA), has created a new initiative to quickly connect employers and candidates in bite-sized interview sessions.

Labelled ‘Meet the Employer,’ the 15-minute online sessions have been designed to benefit both parties, allowing candidates the opportunity to meet the hiring company directly to discuss limited, but very specific, areas of the job requirements and dynamics of the company.

Candidates can showcase their skills and experience too, while also allowing employers to demonstrate their culture and working environment. Both parties get the opportunity to test the water, while naturally speeding up the decision-making process and maximising efficiencies.

Glen Shepherd, director at Glen Callum Associates, said:

“The benefits of our ‘Meet the Employer’ initiative are two-fold, both for the hiring company and the candidate, as they get the chance to ‘test the chemistry’ at screening stages. Traditional interviews can often be strung out and lengthy with initial face-to-face interviews being a more of a meet and greet. With ‘Meet the Employer sessions’ both the candidate and the employer are able to see and speak to each other resulting in quicker hiring catering for today’s fast-paced world.”

The sessions elevate the recruitment process because they give both the candidate and employer direct contact earlier on in the hiring process.

The quick, easy and informative 15-minute interview sessions are designed around the nature of the vacancy and are chaired by the GCA recruiter, centring on three to four key topics that the employer considers vital.

Handled completely by GCA, the employer has a choice. They can either observe or join in on the online interview session.

What’s more, candidates struggling to obtain time off work or holiday entitlement have the flexibility to attend out-of-hours sessions. Because the sessions are short and slick, there is an opportunity to see multiple candidates in a brief timescale, which again often suits the employer’s working day.

Shepherd continued:

“Most importantly, ‘Meet the Employer’ sessions enable both the candidate and employer to be more transparent. This speeds up the second stage of the interview, cutting out the traditional meet and greet.

“We’re always looking at new ways to address current market trends and help employers to build a solid hiring strategy, while improving efficiency and maximising both the candidate and employer’s time and our ‘Meet the Employer’ initiative is designed to do just that.”
