UK Garage & Bodyshop Event
Last week, the GCA team attended the UK Garage & Bodyshop Event at the NEC in Birmingham, joining thousands of industry professionals from across the automotive aftermarket. Spanning two days, the event delivered a packed schedule of training, product launches, live demonstrations, and industry insights – all of which are invaluable to us as recruiters, committed to staying ahead of sector trends.
Connecting With Clients and Candidates
One of the biggest benefits of attending events like this is the opportunity to meet face‑to‑face with the people who make the industry what it is. Throughout the event, we caught up with long‑standing clients, introduced ourselves to new businesses, and spoke with candidates some of whom we placed and others looking to explore their next career move.
Senior Recruitment Consultant, Robert Cox said:
“It was fantastic to speak with so many clients in person. Hearing directly about the challenges and positives in the market right now – all of which helps us tailor our support in a way that genuinely makes a difference.”
Staying Ahead of Industry Trends
The UK Garage & Bodyshop Event is known for showcasing the latest innovations, and this year didn’t disappoint – the show floor was full of forward‑thinking solutions.
As recruiters, understanding these advancements is essential. It ensures we can accurately liaise with clients and guide candidates on where to focus their development.
Senior Recruitment Consultant, Kayleigh Bradley summed it up perfectly:
“The pace of change in the aftermarket is incredible. Being here gives us a real-time view of what’s coming next, which is crucial when we’re helping businesses build future-ready teams.”
Why Events Like This Matter
The automotive aftermarket continues to evolve rapidly, and with that comes a growing demand for skilled, adaptable professionals. Attending industry events ensures we remain aligned with the sector’s direction, challenges, and opportunities.
It strengthens our ability to match the right people with the right roles. Reinforcing our commitment to being more than just recruiters – we’re partners invested in the long-term success of the businesses and professionals we support.
Supporting the Industry Through BEN
It was great to see the automotive charity BEN create a real social hub with their pop‑up pub, The Benevolent. It offered the chance to relax, enjoy a drink and chat with fellow industry professionals.
BEN is the automotive industry’s dedicated charity, supporting the health and wellbeing of anyone who works (or has worked) in the sector. Their mission is to provide life‑changing support for individuals facing challenges such as mental health concerns, financial pressures, physical health issues, or social isolation.
GCA recognises just how vital BEN’s work is. Therefore, Kerrie and Kayleigh have pledged to take part in the Run Fest 2026 challenge at Silverstone in November.
They’re still working on convincing the rest of the team to join them – watch this space!!
Looking Ahead
The team left the NEC energised, informed, and excited about the future of the automotive aftermarket. A huge thank‑you to everyone who took the time to speak with us across the two days. If we didn’t get the chance to connect, or if you’d like to continue the conversation, we’d love to hear from you. Call the office on 01384 485274 or email jobs@glencallum.co.uk.
We look forward to seeing you all again at Automechanika Birmingham (8th – 10th June 2027)
