A Senior Functional Safety Engineer is required to join the team leading the delivery of electrical / electronic engineering throughout a leading vehicle manufacturer.  The Senior Compliance Engineer – Functional Safety will ensure all new products achieve the required deliverables.  This role requires technical knowledge, hands-on experience and an understanding of project delivery.

The Candidate

• Our ideal candidate will be qualified to HND or degree level in Engineering or have the equivalent work experience.
• A working knowledge of functional safety systems and associated terminology.
• Hands on experience of developing & analysing functional safety systems
• Experience taking complex systems from concept through to delivery
• Understanding of associated functional safety risk assessments
• Experience of systems engineering and V model completion including requirements capture & generation; validation and verification activities; external certification approvals
• Knowledge of Sistema would be an advantage.
• Also advantageous is an understanding of ISO13849, ISO1598 or ISO26262 coupled with IEC61508 Functional Safety.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a highly focussed and passionate electrical and electronic compliance team leading the delivery of electrical / electronic engineering across the business; your main duties would include:

• Reviewing all functional safety content for NPI (new product introduction) projects.
• Work closely with business units regarding functional safety deliverables to support the TR (technology readiness) process.
• Work with, and coach, the engineering teams who are responsible for delivering the require project deliverables around the UK and globe.
• Assist in the development of NPIP and TR processes.
• Identify technical and timing risks and potential mitigations.
• Running workshops, reviews as required, driving projects forward and collecting the required evidence
• Implement latest requirements and develop best practices in line with industry specific functional safety guidelines e.g. ISO13849
• Implement latest requirements and develop best practices in line functional safety analysis tools i.e. BGIA SISTEMA
