Maintenance Fitter

An Electro / Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is required for an established and successful Tier 1 manufacturer to support the UK’s manufacturing processes to achieve world class levels of operational efficiency, product quality and lowest piece part manufacturing cost.

Ideal location – Reading, Newbury, Thatcham, Highclere, Burghclere, Didcot, Hungerford, Basingstoke

Excellent Basic Salary + Bonus + Shift Allowance + Benefits

Hours: 3 Shift Pattern (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am)

Our client is an established leading Manufacturer of Engineered products. As part of a global group they have a brand leading portfolio and a reputation built on excellent product development and service levels.

To assist with their continued growth they now require an Electro / Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to enhance the manufacturing team.

The Role: Maintenance Fitter

  • Support the manufacturing processes to achieve world class levels of operational efficiency, product quality and lowest piece part manufacturing cost.
  • Maintain all production machinery in a safe, serviceable condition, including guard systems.
  • Repair production machinery following breakdowns.
  • Carry out specific process development tasks as/when required.
  • Support the design, build/modification of new/existing manufacturing equipment as/when required.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to, including housekeeping standards.
  • Support the department with planning and conducting the preventative maintenance programme.
  • Ensure all maintenance records are correctly maintained and regularly updated.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of spare parts, ordering/manufacturing components as required.
  • Liaise with sub-contractor for specialist service or repair.
  • Ensure that all production machinery and equipment is adequately guarded to the legal requirements.
  • Assist and support new product introductions, continuous improvement projects, kaizen events, special projects etc as required.

The Candidate:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in an engineering or production
  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience within a high-volume production
  • Knowledge of computerized diagnosis equipment to maximise production output.
  • Experience in common PC software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, etc).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Driving licence (preferably clean).
