Customer Coordinator – Automotive

An enthusiastic and dynamic Customer Coordinator is required for an established and successful Tier1 manufacturer based within The Black Country / West Midlands, to further develop their strong foothold with one of the world’s Premier Automotive OEM’s.

Our client is an established leading Manufacturer of Engineered products.  As part of a global group they have a brand leading portfolio and a reputation built on excellent product development and service levels.

To assist with their continued growth they now require a Customer Coordinator to enhance the Applications/Sales team.

The Challenge:

As a Customer Coordinator, your responsibilities will be:

Principal Activities:

Coordinate all Customer related activities within the group, including:

  • Filter and handle customer inquiries
  • Coordinate technical solutions with the relevant departments (e.g. application engineering, process engineering, etc.)
  • Initiate (re-)calculations
  • Check and improve calculations as a base for offers in cooperation with the calculation department
  • Initiate project orientated “kick off” meetings with the relevant departments
  • Conduct prototype, sample and serial offers
  • Follow up those offers negotiate within the given restrictions and in case of failure document lessons learned
  • Initiate and control new part orders after receipt of customer order
  • Monitor schedule and cost achievement of projects
  • Initiate and follow up PPAP procedure
  • Independent handling, steering and controlling of sample and tooling orders and charging those to customers
  • Control customer payments and preparation of debit notes
  • Maintain data in the relevant Systems (e.g. eCRM, lotus notes, AS 400, AX)
  • Check contracts and customer orders if necessary supported by selected lawyers
  • Maintain customer related data
  • Periodical customer visits in coordination with the Account Manager and supervisor
  • Prepare and take part in pricing negotiations with the customer
  • Support of the relevant account managers within the budget and strategical planning process
  • Management of receivables up to taking measures within the mandate given by the ASD
  • Take part in KAIZEN /CIP
  • Improve CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index)
  • Use eCRM and Deltamaster systems

The Candidate:

Reporting to the Team Leader Account Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for Coordinating all Customer related activities within the group.

  • This role would suit a recent engineering or business graduate
  • Strong experience of working in sales or sales related activities,
  • TEAM player, multi-tasking ability
  • High ability to cope with pressure
  • All eligible candidates will need to prove business fluent communications and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of German beneficial but not mandatory
  • Furthermore they will need to show a persistent track record of involvement in strategic industrial products, markets and dealing with industrial customers. Focused on OEM and TIERS
  • Candidates will need to be commercially astute in order to understand the commercial implications, customer-focused in order to meet the needs of each customer, detail-oriented in order to produce accurate solutions, able to work on own initiative, resourceful and able to create solutions in an ambiguous environment, deadline-driven  and able to deliver results even under heavy workload, flexible, reliable in order to take responsibility and ownership of completing assignments
  • Education: Either engineering degree with commercial experience or commercial degree with strong technical knowledge. Experience gained in sales of technically demanding goods to Automotive Customers (especially OEM’s)
