Buyer – New Product Introduction (NPI)

Manufacturing / Mechanical / Engineering

An experienced Buyer is required to join a category team of a leading vehicle manufacturer, focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI).  The Buyer will take responsibility for supplier performance – managing quality, cost, delivery and risk.

If you have worked within a technical buying capacity for a manufacturer, ideally automotive, commercial vehicle, construction machinery, agricultural machinery or marine we want to hear from you.

The Candidate

  • Our ideal candidate will be CIPS qualified
  • You will have previously worked in a multi-site purchasing role with a focus on New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Knowledge and experience of manufacturing process and techniques is highly advantageous.
  • You will be skilled in negotiation – preparation, planning and execution, and cost breakdown.
  • An understanding of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) implementation.
  • Proven experience of managing supplier QCIDM performance is essential.
  • Personal attributes should include: results-driven; hard working and committed; self-starter; independent; confident communicator able to work with people at all levels.

The Role

  • Be responsible for new parts first off availability and initial sample inspection report (ISIR) ensuring compliance with the NPI process.
  • Report QCDIM status and communicate and review QCDIM performance data with suppliers.
  • Ensure warranty agreements are in place prior to placing an order or long-term agreement.
  • Manage part price negotiation and cost target fulfilment.
  • Oversee VA/VE cost saving projects.
  • Support production control and material planning in resolving supplier problems.
  • Manage external risks within the supply chain.
  • Plan organise and direct resources to achieve cost saving budgets.
  • Take responsibility for timely order placement, ensuring sufficient capacity.
