Glen Callum Associates Supports Young at Heart in 2026
Every year the Glen Callum Associates team come together to support a local charity, and for 2026, we’re proud to be supporting Young at Heart. This compassionate organisation touches the lives of children and their families in ways that truly matter.
Why we chose Young at Heart?
This year, our team felt strongly about supporting a children’s charity. With finances stretched for so many, local charities are feeling the strain more than ever. And with so many incredible organisations doing vital work, choosing just one felt impossible. But when Kayleigh shared the story of the support her nephew received from Young at Heart, we knew exactly where our fundraising efforts needed to go!
Who are Young at Heart?
Founded in 1982, Young at Heart are a small local registered charity, set up to help and support the families of babies and children diagnosed with heart defects. The children have all undergone major heart surgery and face weeks / months in hospital.
Working closely with Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Heart Unit, Young at Heart provide a critical support line and network with regular ward visits, telephone support line and parents social forum groups. Available to families during their time in hospital and also when back at home.
As well as helping to provide key equipment, the charity aims to bring families together, to share experiences whilst allowing the children to make friends with other children who have ‘special hearts’.
Kayleigh’s Story
Kayleigh’s young nephew, Layton, was born with a serious heart condition that was detected during prenatal scans. Since birth, he has undergone multiple surgeries at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Young at Heart has been an enormous source of support for Layton and his family. The charity provided him with an INR machine, reducing the need for frequent hospital visits while ensuring he remains safely and regularly monitored. Beyond the medical support, Young at Heart has also invited Layton to take part in special activities, including being a mascot at Walsall FC. They have also offered guidance to his parents on how to explain his condition to him – support that helped Layton feel confident enough to give a talk about it to his school friends.

GCA Support

Our support began in December 2025 with an initial donation made in place of sending Christmas cards to clients and candidates. Choosing to give to charity felt far more purposeful, allowing those funds to make a real difference rather than being spent on cards that might be overlooked and eventually thrown away.
Acknowledgment of our donation in December 2025 – thank you!
Looking Ahead
GCA is committed to carrying out further fundraising events throughout 2026 for Young at Heart. We’ll share more details about these exciting events as plans are finalised.
We hope you will be able to support us with our sponsored endeavours.
If you want to join us in supporting Young at Heart, they would be delighted to receive any donations, no matter how small – every penny helps to support a child and their family.
