GCA’s latest recruitment report reveals focus on flexibility trends and cross-sector talent acquisition
What’s shaping the future of automotive aftermarket recruitment? Our Q4 2024 report is here, dive into the insights that matter most.
Q4 saw 53 percent of roles filled as remote positions, with office-based placements at 35 percent and hybrid roles accounting for 12 percent. This indicates a continued preference for flexible work arrangements, helping businesses attract talent across demographics.
83 percent of placements were within the automotive industry itself, while 17 percent came from allied sectors. Notably, 59 percent of candidates placed were from allied industries, reflecting the growing acceptance of skills-based hiring to bridge gaps in the talent pool – a strategy GCA has continually encouraged Hiring Managers to adopt.

The Midlands emerged as the most popular job location in Q4, highlighting the region’s ongoing importance as a hub for the automotive aftermarket.
In terms of roles, Sales, Marketing and Operations dominated recruitment, representing 84 percent of total placements. Senior executive roles made up 11 percent, while five percent were technical positions. 12 percent of placements were executive roles, showcasing businesses’ commitment to bolstering leadership as they prepare for growth in 2025.
