The Role

  • Build strong relationships at all levels within commercial vehicle / public service vehicle fleet operators.
  • Secure customer commitment to supply the company’s products and services.
  • Provide first class end-to-end customer support, from enquiry through to distribution.
  • Gather market intelligence from customers in order to influence and improve company sales strategy.
  • Review, analyse and maintain the customer database, to ensure that opportunities are maximised at all times.
  • Support the development and implementation of marketing material and events.

The Candidate

  • A sales professional with a proven track record and knowledge of truck and trailer parts.
  • A background in the sales of these products to customers in fleet workshops.
  • A technical understanding or appreciation of these products and the commercial fleet sector is a prerequisite.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to effectively build and maintain business relationships at all levels, from workshop managers to fleet owners / directors.
  • Pro-active in identifying and generating new business opportunities against sales and profitability targets.

The Role: Business Development Manager

Reporting to the Sales Director, the Business Development Manager builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and maintains an extensive knowledge of current market trends to improve the company’s market share.

Key functions:

  • New Business Development – identify potential customers and the decision makers within the organisation. Research and build relationships with new customers.
  • Handle objections by clarifying agreements, resolving service issues and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Business Retention – present new products & services and enhance existing relationships. Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Planning – attend trade shows and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends. Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services and products. Identify opportunities for sales campaigns, services that will lead to an increase in sales.

  • You will be educated in Mechanical Engineering, this could be an apprenticeship, HND or degree level.
  • Coupled with a proven history in mechanical roles, ideally focussing on manufacturing industries such as aerospace, automotive or industrial.
  • Previous experience of workholding or clamping equipment is advantageous, although not essential.
  • You will be a strong, confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with customers, utilising your engineering knowledge and experience to leverage these relationships.
  • Our ideal candidate will have some experience within a commercial environment or be interested in making a step into a Sales role whilst utilising and retaining their technical knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn and develop is a must!
