An exciting position is available for a Head of Category Management based in the West Midlands to join an already successful company.  You will be joining an established market leader which is yielding excellent opportunities for their staff.

The JOB

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate management and commercial expertise at a strategic level.  The ability to use product and customer data will be essential in building the strategic direction from customer needs through to project delivery.  You will lead your team to deliver road map goals for sales and profit targets.

  • Lead cross functional collaboration with Marketing, Commercial and Technical functions.
  • Understand the market requirements explicitly allowing you to direct your team and portfolio to success
  • Lead NPD making sure the company is positioned as the market leader in developments and availability
  • Lead the successful launch of new products and concepts within your portfolio. Ensure that product range is reviewed and challenged.
  • Able to manage Technical and Warranty staff and oversee the helpdesk / technical team.
  • Commercial acumen with a solid background of managing supplier relationships, pricing and inventory is essential
  • Identify new opportunities for growth through new product development and market penetration.
  • Manage supplier relationships.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sales via distributors and possess an exceptional ability to get hands on with product and adopt a demonstrative approach towards introducing products to market, increasing sales and training distributor staff.   • Visit existing customers and prospect new customers throughout parts of the UK and Europe.
  • Create customer loyalty through contact visits, training and distributor end user field workouts.
  • Anticipate the customer’s needs / applications and introduce products to suit their needs.
  • Propose product profiles and range build.
  • Provide technical knowledge and demonstrative solutions to aid the sales & solutions process.
  • Be the technical support mechanism for all of your distributors.
  • Manage all commercial and sales activities within your distributor network.
  • Pro-actively appoint new distributors in areas of weak distribution / coverage.

The Role

  • Manage complex projects within an experienced and established team including problem analysis, engineering design, production, purchasing, quality and cost estimating activities.

  • Assess material usage combining efficiency against pricing and performance.

  • Compile and / or review costed BOM versus project budget.

The Candidate

  • Our ideal candidate will possess and HNC / HND / in an engineering discipline and ideally have previous experience of working within metal pressings or toolmaking.
  • Experience in automotive compliance accreditations such as IATF 16949 (formerly TS16949) and quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 would be exceptionally beneficial.
  • Hands on approach towards team working and willingness to do what’s required to ensure projects are carried out on time and within budget.
  • A thorough understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes for pressed metal applications will be distinctly advantageous.
