Automotive Aftermarket – The Future
Keeping connected! Glen Shepherd, AIRP and Kayleigh Bradley attended todays informative webinar hosted by a well respected panel of automotive aftermarket industry speakers discussing the impact of COVID-19 on their businesses and the wider challenges and opportunities for the automotive aftermarket.
Launched by the organisers of Automechanika – Messe Frankfurt UK, aftermarket professionals, including the GCA team, are able to access a live series of webinars discussing the industry’s critical next steps.
The key points covered in today’s discussions were:
- Downturn in car sales = upturn in aftermarket – Whilst consumers aren’t purchasing new vehicles they will be keeping their current cars for longer, instigating an increase sales for the automotive aftermarket.
- The changing role of the sales person – Are businesses open to receiving sales professionals? Does this mean more virtual visits with less sales people on the road? Does this lead to a decrease in travel costs on the positive but a further decrease in sales as a negative? If the sales professionals are spending less time in transit are they more or less effective?
- Investing in people – this was highlighted as the no. 1 priority for aftermarket businesses – when companies need new strategies, increased sales and more technical knowledge then the approach is to ensure their business has the internal expertise it needs to remain profitable and grow.
- Electrification is on the rise – what does this mean for the aftermarket, what are the issues with demand for knowledge, how does the industry adapt?
